Mitsuru Tabata & Shoji Hano (Japan), with Fowl Weather Vein (Syd)
🎶 For the first time ever in Australia! 🎶
Join us for a unique night featuring the legendary Mitsuru Tabata (from Boredoms, ZENI GEVA, Acid Mothers Temple) and Shoji Hano, a renowned collaborator with respected artists like Peter Brötzmann and Derek Bailey. This dynamic duo will present their debut release "Meeting" (UFO Creations).
✨ Tabata recalls, "When my high school band played in our hometown of Kyoto, we got an encore. Suddenly, a man with a piercing gaze asked if he could play our drums. That man was Shoji Hano—my very first encounter with free jazz drumming." Their reunion after years of separation promises an unforgettable musical experience!
🤝 Don't miss this very (very) special pairing of these two giants of Japanese improvised music!
🌊 Joining them will be Fowl Weather Vein, a local Sydney band formed in 2018. Known for their eclectic sound, they serve up a blend of post-punk, post-blues, and maritime-inspired tunes. With more false starts than an Eastern Bloc sedan on a frosty dawn, they deliver a puréed musical experience that you won't want to miss!
