About the event

👨‍👶 Partners in Parenthood: Navigating Perinatal Mental Health Together

West London Perinatal × Daddies and Diapers have joined forces to bring you a warm, open, and supportive community workshop centred on perinatal mental health — with a particular focus on the vital role that fathers play during pregnancy and the postnatal period.

💙 About the Workshop

Becoming a dad is one of life's most profound transitions — bringing with it enormous responsibility, pressure, and change. Yet while much of the public conversation around perinatal wellbeing centres on mothers, fathers face their own emotional, mental, and practical challenges that often go unacknowledged.

This session carves out a dedicated space for men to gain knowledge, build confidence, and feel genuinely supported — so they can show up for their partners and themselves.

Attendees will hear lived experiences shared by real fathers, alongside professional insight from the West London Perinatal Mental Health Team, offering practical understanding of what to expect and how to respond during this critical period of family life.

✅ What You'll Gain

  • 🧠 A clearer understanding of postnatal mental health and its wider impact on families
  • 💬 Insight into common challenges including depression, anxiety, birth trauma, and sleep deprivation
  • 🙋 The opportunity to put your questions directly to mental health professionals
  • 🤝 Meaningful connection with other fathers and fathers-to-be

📊 Why This Matters

  • 1 in 5 women experience perinatal mental health difficulties
  • Partner support plays a major role in recovery and parent-baby bonding
  • Fathers can also experience stress, anxiety, and depression — yet frequently go without support

This workshop aims to break that silence and help build a stronger, better-informed community of dads.
