Ondřej Hudeček's Covid Western, which won an award at the Sundance Film Festival for his short film Furiant, follows a petty thief who, after returning from prison, gets involved in a series of insurance frauds—this time to help local businesses survive. The film combines black comedy, drama, satire, and crime, depicting a community in which the boundaries between good and evil are blurred in extraordinary times. The authentic atmosphere of Strážnice is complemented by the local dialect, a number of non-professional actors, and the remarkable performances of Matyáš Řezníček, Filip Kaňkovský, Václav Neužil, and Stanislav Majer.
