About the event

All Tech Is Human's popular Responsible Tech Author Series is back, celebrating the release of Reid Blackman's upcoming book, The Ethical Nightmare Challenge. Our gatherings always reach capacity, so register to join this Responsible Tech Mixer + the fireside chat with Reid. Reid will be interviewed by Sharon Goldman, AI reporter at Fortune.
The Responsible Tech ecosystem is a broad mix that cuts across civil society, government, industry, and academia. There are ethicists, students, attorneys, technologists, startup founders, designers, psychologists, academics, and everyone in between. Collectively, we work towards tackling thorny tech & society issues and aligning our tech future with the public interest.
All Tech Is Human is based in NYC with a global audience; we hold in-person gatherings in NYC, DC, SF, and London, and through our Slack community (14k members, 117 countries), individuals are organizing ATIHx meet-ups in cities across the globe. Through our multistakeholder community-building, educational resources, and career-related activities, we are strengthening the Responsible Tech ecosystem. And a strong ecosystem makes us better equipped to deal with complex tech & society problems.

About The Ethical Nightmare Challenge: How to avoid the worst of AI
In The Ethical Nightmare Challenge, AI ethics expert Reid Blackman reveals why the standard approach to AI governance is "utterly inadequate" and destined to fall apart. Whether you are a CEO, a developer, or leading a department or project, you are now part of an ecosystem where so many decisions lead to unpredictable, high-stakes outcomes.

Reid is also Senior Advisor to the Deloitte AI Institute, was a founding member of Ernst & Young’s Artificial Intelligence Advisory Board, and volunteers time to the nonprofit Government Blockchain Association, where he is the Chief Ethics Officer.
Prior to founding Virtue, Reid was a professor of philosophy at Colgate University and the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. He also founded a fireworks wholesaling company and was a flying trapeze instructor. He has contributed to Harvard Business Review and TechCrunch, his work was profiled in the Wall Street Journal, and he speaks at events and businesses around the world.
