Storkyrkan fylls denna kväll av toner från en av världens mest hyllade körer: The Choir of St Johns College, Cambridge. Med rötter i 1600-talets England har kören genom århundraden utvecklat en klang som förtrollat såväl publik som kritiker i hela världen. Under ledning av Christopher Gray sjunger pojkar och flickor sida vid sida, tillsammans med universitetsstudenter, i en ensemble som utmärker sig för sin värme och precision samt sitt djupa engagemang i både tradition och nyskapande. Kören hörs regelbundet i internationella radiosändningar, på turnéer och har fler än 90 prisade album bakom sig.

Programmet bjuder på allt från Tallis och Gibbons praktfulla polyfoni och suggestiva mystik till brittisk katedralklang där olika generationers röster möts. Brittens färgsprakande Rejoice in the Lamb ger plats åt både fantasi och glädje, Marsh rör sig mellan dramatik och reflektion, Daley skapar innerlig närvaro och Holst knyter an till engelska ljudlandskap och poesitradition. Konserten bjuder musik där varje verk bär på en egen berättelse och där publiken får uppleva rymd, tröst och den mänskliga rösten i sin allra vackraste form.

This evening, Storkyrkan will be filled with the sound of one of the worlds most celebrated choirs: The Choir of St Johns College, Cambridge. With roots in seventeenth-century England, the choir has, through the centuries, developed a sound that has captivated audiences and critics alike around the globe. Under the direction of Christopher Gray, boys and girls sing side by side with university students in an ensemble distinguished by warmth, precision, and deep commitment to both tradition and innovation. The choir is regularly heard in international broadcasts and on tours, and has recorded over ninety acclaimed albums.

The programme ranges from the majestic polyphony and compelling mysticism of Tallis and Gibbons to the resplendent sound of the British cathedral choral tradition, where voices of different generations meet. Brittens vibrant Rejoice in the Lamb bursts with imagination and joy, Marsh moves between drama and contemplation, Daley creates a sense of intimate presence, and Holst evokes the English soundscape and poetic heritage. This concert offers music in which each work tells its own story, inviting the audience to experience spaciousness, consolation, and the human voice in its most beautiful expression.
