About the event

LET THE GAMES BEGIN!

Join us for a creative evening in a cozy, dimly lit basement where we’ll craft unique beats while enjoying La Croix and having a few laughs over funny samples! 😄 No prior experience is necessary, and you're encouraged to team up with others for this collaborative experience.

HOW IT WORKS:

  1. Arrive at 7 PM sharp.
  2. A flash drive will be passed around for you to drop in a sound.
  3. We’ll circulate the flash drive again to collect all the sounds.
  4. Using only these samples (no outside sounds or synthesis!), you’ll create your very own beat.
  5. We’ll listen to everyone's creations on the sound system at the end of the night. WE ALL WIN!!! 🎉

Compilation:

As a sweet bonus, at the end of the summer, we’ll each contribute a song to a compilation to be released on Bandcamp! 🎧

Donations:

While donations are completely optional, they help cover drink costs as there are no working drinking fountains at TIAT. We’ll get La Croix and perhaps some coconut water. Any contributions also assist in recouping costs for the sound system and lights. ❤️

Hang Out Afterwards:

If the vibe is right, we might head out for Thai food or something similar nearby, hanging out until around midnight. 🌙

About the Host:

Meet Nes Croft, a talented musician and computer engineer from Montana. With a rich background in folk/rock and a shift into experimental pop, IDM, techno, and trance, Nes has a wealth of experience. After working at Synthrotek in Portland, OR, and obtaining a degree in computer engineering, they co-founded the Vaytricks Beat Machine, a popular mobile drum machine app. Later, they developed Auwen, a digital audio workstation designed for live performances. Nes is also active in the livecoding scene and organizes events at the TIAT art gallery and Gray Area in San Francisco. 🌟
