11.00 – 12.30: SONISTA TIMBAAN
An interactive lecture by Jani Lehtioksa (Hki)

• Explore the history of Son music.
• Discover the rhythms and instruments that make up this vibrant genre.
• Understand the evolution of musical elements over time.
• Dive into what distinguishes timba from son and the meaning of 'son montuno.'

📌 About Jani Lehtioksa:
Jani is a percussionist, Bomba Buenan bongocero, and rhythm enthusiast. His engaging lectures make understanding Cuban music accessible to everyone, regardless of prior knowledge in music theory.

12.45 – 14.45: TIEMPO Y CONTRATIEMPO: MUSICALIDAD Y MOVIMIENTO
With Yoandy Jimeno

• Learn the quality of movement in son music.
• Explore the concepts of tempo and contratiempo.
• Discover the relationship between dance movements and music rhythms.
• Experience exercises that connect your body and music more naturally.

This workshop is designed for those who have danced Cuban popular dances before (solo and/or with a partner) and want to deepen the connection between dance and music.

📌 About Yoandy Jimeno:
Yoandy is a talented singer, musician, performer, and dancer raised in a multicultural Finnish-Cuban home. He emphasizes the continuous dialogue between music and dance during the workshop.

🎹 Live Music by:
Jani Lehtioksa, Helena Kallas-Garcia, and Gerardo Hernandez
Helena Kallas-Garcia has specialized in Cuban piano for the last nine years, performing in several Cuban music bands across Finland.

🌟 Course Fees 🌟

1.5 hours of lecture + 2 hours of workshop with live music:
💸 80 € / 77 € for students, seniors, unemployed, and maternity leave recipients.

The course will take place if the minimum number of participants is met by June 28.
