Gisberta Salce Júnior was a talented Brazilian trans woman and a beloved performer who left an indelible mark on those who knew her. Tragically, her life was cut short by a brutal hate crime in 2006, but her legacy lives on through music, art, and public remembrance.

Expect an evening filled with MPB (Música Popular Brasileira) as Novo Cais weaves together the most iconic LGBTQ+ anthems from the past five decades, culminating in Pedro Abrunhosa’s “Balada de Gisberta”—a powerful anthem against transphobia that resonates deeply in Brazil and Portugal.

Lead singer Daniel Boer Bonifacio, a proud member of the LGBTQ+ community, will enrich the performance with spoken reflections, linking each song to Gisberta’s life and the enduring fight for LGBTQ+ rights.
