Preparing for Emerging Mobility: Autonomous Vehicles and Mobility Horizons

Preparing for Emerging Mobility: Autonomous Vehicles and Mobility Horizons

Sobre el evento

🚗 Autonomous vehicles, e-bikes, bike share, car share, mobility-as-a-service, and other emerging technologies are reshaping how people move. The effectiveness of these tools in reducing emissions, traffic, and car dependency relies heavily on the urban settings they inhabit and the guiding policies.

Join us for a session that transcends hype and doom, focusing on how cities can utilize emerging mobility to:

  • Support safer streets
  • Reduce vehicle miles traveled
  • Improve curb management
  • Incentivize climate-aligned transportation choices

Questions for discussion:

  • With all the competition for curb space, who wins?
  • Why are AVs better than current options like taxis and Uber, considering job displacement?
  • What changes are necessary in a city for AVs to enhance mobility?
  • What are the benefits of exchanging street parking for continuous circulation?

This session is hosted by the NYU Rudin Center and the Parking Reform Network, and is part of the Urban Climate Solutions Track at NYC Climate Week 2026. Explore all events in the track here.
