Blacksmith Railroad Spike Knife (Age 8+)

Join us for an exciting blacksmithing workshop where you'll transform an upcycled railroad spike into a unique knife! Perfect for beginners aged 8 and up, this hands-on experience includes:

• Dress Code: Wear jeans and leather boots or shoes, along with a comfortable cotton shirt. If leather isn’t an option, closed-toed shoes will do, and we can provide leather spats.
• What to Expect:
  1. Start by putting on the provided PPE.
  2. Get familiar with essential blacksmithing tools like hammers and tongs.
  3. Light a propane forge with guidance.
  4. Spend an hour hammering and shaping your blade.
  5. Learn the processes of annealing and tempering steel using heat, sand, and oil.
  6. Sharpen your knife using a grinder and files.
  7. Finish off by tempering and oil-quenching your blade for maximum hardness.

Additional Details:

• Class duration is approximately 4 hours, depending on individual ability.
• Required PPE will be provided to ensure safety.
• Choose your own railroad spike from our collection or bring one of your own!
• Class size is limited to a maximum of 8 participants.
• Children under 12 must register with an adult.
