First Saturday Domestic Demonstration - Fall Planting Preparation

First Saturday Domestic Demonstration - Fall Planting Preparation

À propos de l'événement

Join our knowledgeable staff for our First Saturday Domestic Program! 🌿 Witness our Director of Education as they prepare the museum gardens for the upcoming fall planting.

Discover how many cool-season crops, such as leafy greens and root vegetables, thrive in cooler temperatures, allowing you to plant several weeks before the last spring frost or in late summer for a bountiful fall harvest.

Here’s what you’ll learn:

  • How to prepare your soil effectively by adding compost.
  • Ensuring your soil isn't too wet for optimal planting.
  • Directly sowing seeds or starting larger transplants indoors for a successful harvest.

Cool-season vegetables flourish in temperatures between 40°F and 70°F and can often handle light frosts. 🌬️ Don't miss out on this enriching experience!

This event is included with General Admission and is free for MS Agriculture Museum Foundation members. Learn more about membership here.
