Shut Up & Write! [Amsterdam/ IJburg]

Join us for an hour of writing! It's remarkably helpful to write alongside other writers. Discover this for yourself at Factor-ij in Amsterdam on Thursday mornings.

Whether you're working on a book, blog, script, essay, dissertation, resume, melody, poem, or even just some work-related tasks, we welcome you to write together! Your work remains private—no unsolicited advice will be given. Instead of pondering over your writing, let’s get it done!

🗓️ Schedule:

• 11:15 AM: Quick introductions
• 11:30 AM: Timer starts: write for 1 hour
• 12:30 PM: The End: chat, leave, or continue writing

Optional socializing will take place at 12:30 PM after the writing session. Writing can be isolating, so connecting (and sometimes commiserating) with fellow writers is a great opportunity!

Being late is okay! Just arrive, settle in, and check in with the host (look for the Shut Up & Write! sign). If you’re on time, kindly make room for friendly latecomers.

What to Bring:

• Anything you need to write!
• Bring earbuds/earplugs if you wish to block out the cafe's overhead music or nearby conversations.
• Make sure your devices are charged, as charging options may not be available.

Important Travel Details:

• Public Transport:
  1. Take Tram 26 from Amsterdam Central Station to the last stop.
  2. Take bus 66 from Amsterdam Bijlmer Station, get off at Pieter Oosterhuisstraat, and walk towards the corner.
• Free Wi-Fi is available.
• Compulsory consumption is not required, but we do encourage ordering a drink to support our generous host.
