What is A Savage Silence?
Based on the acclaimed novel by Rory Hafford, this film explores the complexities of relationship breakdown, betrayal, and the journey towards discovering a new way of existing in the world. It dives deep into the themes of love, loss, and the transformative power of hope and resilience.
Director Darragh O’Rourke passionately states, "I decided to make this film because it offers an intriguing and inspiring narrative that resonates with many people, providing guidance through life's hardships, irrespective of their age or background."
Starring a talented ensemble of young, Irish midlands-based actors, some making their cinematic debuts, this project showcases the hidden talent within the Irish creative scene. O’Rourke notes, "This is by far our most ambitious project yet."
The film also features original music from Rory Hafford's albums, Savage Sounds and Remember, enhancing the emotional depth of the story. Notably, Remember was named Album Of The Week on RTÉ Lyric FM’s Marty In The Morning.
Rory Hafford, hailing from Fore, Co. Westmeath, is a multifaceted individual — a psychotherapist, musician, author, and martial artist, and regularly contributes to Midlands 103 with his segment on the Midlands Today show called Headaches and Heartaches.
