Agentic Coding Workshop 006: From Autoresearch to Evals
From Autoresearch to Evals: Shipping AI That Actually Works
The way we write code is fundamentally changing. AI coding tools have moved beyond autocomplete—they're now capable collaborators that are reshaping how founding engineers work.
Join us for an evening with two builders working at the frontier of applied AI. Niko Lazaris (Obvious) will walk through an autoresearch loop workflow, and a member of the Fractional AI team will dig into evals—how they're used to verify that systems behave as intended in real production environments. Moderated by Arjun Kannan, the session runs as a roundtable: presentations are the jumping-off point, but the real value is in the room. Expect to discuss, contribute, and compare notes throughout—then map out what you're going to try next.
About Your Moderator
Arjun Kannan, Co-Founder at Residesk, which helps real estate owners make sense of what residents stay and pay for by texting with millions of renters and understanding what they're actually saying. Previously, he was CTO and CPO at Climb Credit, where he built ML-driven financing products that helped over 10,000 people change careers and improve their earnings. He started his career at BlackRock, building analytics that helped investors make sense of data across ~$2T in assets.
Speakers
Niko Lazaris (Obvious) — speaking on building an autoresearch loop workflow.
A member of the Fractional AI team — speaking on evals and how they're used to verify systems work as intended in production environments.
What We'll Cover
It's a roundtable setting, so there's plenty of room to jump in, ask questions, and swap notes along the way. Niko will walk through an autoresearch loop end to end, and the Fractional AI team will break down how evals catch problems before they reach production. Each presentation opens up into discussion, so you can pressure-test ideas against your own work and learn from how others in the room are building.
The heart of the workshop is the shared conversation. You'll trade notes on how you currently work, brainstorm improvements together, and leave with a concrete next step to try—whether at work or on a side project.
Schedule
9:30 AM - Doors open (coffee & pastries)
10:00 AM - Workshop begins (demos, live sessions, breakout groups)
11:20 AM - Workshop wrap and networking
Whether you're skeptical, curious, or already knee-deep in Claude/Cursor/Copilot, come learn alongside other founding engineers navigating this shift together. You'll leave with practical skills, new perspectives, and connections with other founding engineers facing similar challenges.
This is one of a recurring series of technical workshops. As the landscape continues to evolve rapidly, we'll keep convening to learn together and stay ahead of what's next.
About Scout: Scout is a career copilot that creates the connections, community, and knowledge to accelerate your startup career.
Hosted by Randy Brown - Founder of Scout, former CTO at Jopwell (YC S15, a16z-backed), and creator of the Founding Engineer Circle community in San Francisco. Randy brings together technical talent through events, workshops, and a private network that helps engineers thrive in early-stage startups.
Co-hosted by Fractional AI - We're excited to host this workshop in collaboration with Fractional AI. Fractional AI is the founding team behind a new AI services venture backed by Anthropic, Blackstone, and Hellman & Friedman. They're an engineering-first AI partner that helps companies turn ambitious AI ideas into production-ready systems that drive real business outcomes. Check out their events calendar here!
