Ancestral Farm Volunteer Work Day

Join the FCC’s Ancestral Healing Farm Co-Coordinators, Rai and Camille, for a day of community and cultivation! We're excited to beautify our farm space just in time for summer! ☀️

🌼 Activities include:

• Planting summer herbs, flowers, and food.
• Making art to decorate our new fences.
• Harvesting plenty of mint, rosemary, and lavender for you to bring home!

What to Bring:

• Water bottles 💧
• Hats 🧢
• Sunscreen ☀️
• Gloves (if you have them; we can provide them if needed)

📝 Updated Waiver:
This year, we have an updated community consent waiver that all participants must complete. If you've filled it out at another space since mid-April, please inform our team. Otherwise, you can complete it here.

🍃 About Our Ancestral Healing Farm:
Located just 10 minutes from downtown Oakland, our 1/2 acre sanctuary is dedicated to cultural preservation and the cultivation of medicines for the global diaspora. We aim to restore healing connections and medicinal relationships to the land for Black, Brown, and immigrant communities in the Bay Area, believing in the power of ecological justice and land-based sovereignty to heal from the traumas of racism and violence.

🌿 Meet Our Farm Co-Coordinators:

• Rai Zargoza
• Camille Braswell - a queer Black farmer passionate about soil, seeds, and the human-plant connection. When not at the farm, you can find Camille dancing or cooking up delicious meals for friends.

🦎 Accessibility Note:
Please be aware that the Ancestral Healing Farm is currently not accessible for wheelchairs or mobility aids. There are non-human inhabitants like snakes and ticks.

• Ticks: Wear socks, pants, and light-coloured clothing for visibility. We recommend performing a tick check after your visit.
• Rattlesnakes: Farm co-coordinators will guide you on safety practices and shift work areas as needed for your safety.
