Band saws are ideal for cutting curves and intricate shapes in wood. They can also be used for ripping lumber to size, resawing, and cutting joints. Using the band saw can can be dangerous and harmful. Therefore, it is mandatory to complete a band saw-course at Bitraf before operating the machinery. Although band saws are generally considered safer than table saws, any machine with a moving blade must be taken seriously. Band saws generate noise while cutting, and their blades can be just as dangerous as spinning table saw blades, though with a lower risk of kickback. During this course, you will learn how to use the band saw safely.

Important information:
• These courses tend to fill up. If you realize that you can't attend after signing up, please RSVP 'no' to sign off asap, so that someone else can take your spot.
• The course starts at 16:00 precisely in the wood workshop. You are welcome to come earlier to grab coffee etc before the course starts. Be sure to be on time, if you come late you will miss important information essential to complete the course, and not get certified to use the machines.
• Because of high expenses and running costs for the machines at Bitraf, you need to be a paying member of Bitraf to attend this course. Please join Bitraf at http://bitraf.no/join before signing up to the course.
• The course starts with a group theory presentation, then practical training. At the end of the course you will be added to the 'TOOLS' tool access system at this point, meaning you will have everything you need to start using the band saw.
