Bowie in Berlin

Bowie in Berlin

Über die Veranstaltung

Bowie's Berlin Trilogy marks a milestone in modern music.

Conductor and arranger Hans Ek has created unforgettable performances and concerts at Wermland Opera. Among them are notable works like L’Orfeo, Eurydike, and most recently, the Invigningskonserten at Bageriet. Now, he returns to Karlstad with the Wermland Opera Orchestra for the concert Bowie in Berlin.

He will be joined by vocalists Jonathan Johansson, Moto Boy, Jennie Abrahamson, and Oskar Bien, who participated in Eurydike and the Invigningskonserten, both as a singer and bassist.

This concert focuses on David Bowie's iconic Berlin trilogy. With a foundation in the albums Low, Heroes, and Lodger, it creates a suggestive exposé of one of pop history's most influential periods.

During his years in Berlin from 1976 to 1978, Bowie shaped a new musical expression where pop meets experimental and art music— a soundscape particularly suited for a symphonic arrangement. Ten years after David Bowie's passing, this music continues to resonate with undiminished power. Bowie described these works as his musical DNA, and songs like “Heroes” still touch generation after generation.
