Dayenu: It Would Have Been Enough, Solo Exhibition by Louise Silk

Join us for Dayenu: It Would Have Been Enough, a captivating solo exhibition by Pittsburgh fiber-artist Louise Silk. This exhibition serves as a milestone in Silk's career, showcasing an all-new body of work for the very first time following her landmark retrospective at the Heinz History Center in 2024.

Discover a collection of hand-sewn creations including art quilts, scrap quilts, flags, kaftans, portraits, and pillows, all crafted from repurposed fabrics. Silk ingeniously weaves together personal scraps and found textiles, creating a meaningful visual narrative that reflects her life experiences.

The exhibition draws inspiration from Silk’s spiritual practices, intermingling themes from Judaism and Zen Buddhism. The title, Dayenu, derives from a beloved Passover Seder song, embodying a spirit of gratitude for the gifts bestowed upon the Jewish people. Each quilt stands as a tribute to this sense of gratitude.

With over 50 years of experience in creating art quilts, Louise Silk has showcased her work across the U.S., with seven solo exhibitions to her credit, including the recent career retrospective Louise Silk: A Patchwork Life. Silk resides and works in Pittsburgh's South Side.
