Deptford Dub Club: 70s Roots Special
Join us for an unforgettable evening dedicated to the remarkable evolution of Roots Reggae from 50 years ago! 🎉 Experience classics from King Tubby’s dubs to the soulful sounds of deep roots vocalists like Hugh Mundell and Augustus Pablo.
The lineup features:
- Ras Danny Dread (also known as Ras Danny Mosiah), closing the night with his legendary sets that have graced the renowned Jah Shaka Soundsystem. 🎧
- Drop da Biscuit, a staple of the London Revive scene, bringing along the vibes and his influential podcasts. 🌟
- Soft Wax, our resident selector, reminiscing about life-changing releases from back in the day. 📀
- Doc Murdoc, our talented Singjay, guaranteed to enliven the dancefloor with his mid-70s toasting style. 🎤
- The D.D.C. Horns, led by Tombone of The Dub Pistols, will join the festivities.
We’re excited to have Selector Becca joining the bill, sharing her passion for this era's music. And just in time for the celebration, experience a special live mix from the great Prince Fatty, showcasing his new re-lick of “Air, Earth, Fire and Water” produced by Augustus Pablo! 💿
Dance to an eclectic mix of Jamaican music, including Rocksteady and Ska, as we commemorate the 50th anniversary of “King Tubby Meets the Rockers Uptown.” 🎉
