Join us for a powerful film and discussion series celebrating the resilience of LGBTQ+ Americans by exploring interpersonal, intergenerational, and LGBTQ+ experiences in their historical context. This event takes place at Ames Public Library every Tuesday at 6 PM.

  • June 16: The Celluloid Closet
    Narrated by Lily Tomlin, this film unveils a dazzling history of gay representation on screen.

    A powerful story of a college student forced to undergo conversion therapy by his religious parents.
  • June 30: Limited Partnership
    Tells the love story of Richard Adams and Tony Sullivan, one of the first same-sex couples legally married in the U.S.
  • July 7: Daddy and Papa
    Explores the challenges faced by four same-sex couples and their children.
  • July 14: The Times of Harvey Milk
    A documentary about the life and assassination of the first openly gay elected official.
  • July 21: We Were Here
    Examining the personal and political issues raised by the AIDS epidemic in the early 80s.
  • July 28: The Believers
    A documentary on the Transcendence Gospel Choir, the world's first transgender gospel choir, founded in 2001.
