About the Event

Victoria has seen three premiers in three years, and as of now, there is no clear favorite to hold the position after November. With Ben Carroll taking over on July 28, there are just 123 days until the election. As of September 1, there will be 88 days left until the election, coinciding with the 88 seats in the lower house, where 45 is the majority. Currently, no party is close to achieving that number.

The situation is challenging for all parties: the Coalition needs to gain 16 seats with a uniform swing of 7.6%, assuming no losses to One Nation or independents. This is a critical cycle where a few hundred votes could change the outcome in key areas like Hawthorn and Kew. Meanwhile, Labor is defending a fourth term with a Premier who is not widely recognized by the state.

If your FY27 plan relies on a two-party system with a clear winner, it may need to be revised before Christmas.
