Frank Bang & Secret Stash | Live Blues at The Alley & Fuel BBQ
A Bluesman's Journey 🌊
Willie Dixon once famously said, “The blues are the roots and the other musics are the fruits.” While this rings true, it still doesn’t encapsulate the essence of the blues, a genre that defies explanation.
When thinking of the blues, names like Robert Johnson, B.B. King, and Muddy Waters come to mind. Connoisseurs might add Son House and Leadbelly, while others think of modern legends like Stevie Ray Vaughan and Eric Clapton. All are spot on.
The blues is raw, transcending cultures. It reflects both your worst feelings and your best moments, unapologetic in its honesty.
Frank Bang embodies this spirit. While he’s the nicest guy you’ll ever meet, once he grabs a guitar, he can provoke every emotion from sorrow to joy, and perhaps even get you moving. He was born Frank Blinkal, part of a lineage of Chicago police officers, raised by a hardworking mother. This environment shaped his music, enriched by the vibrant Chicago music scene.
In his twenties, Frank honed his craft at Buddy Guy’s Legends club, absorbing knowledge and playing alongside industry titans. He later toured as Buddy Guy’s guitarist, sharing stages with legends like Robert Plant and Eric Clapton. His hard work and dedication are reflected in his multiple acclaimed albums, including works under the names Frank Bang and the Secret Stash and Frank Bang and the Cook County Kings.
Today, with 14 songs regularly spinning on B.B. King’s Bluesville Station, Frank Bang delivers everything from Led Zeppelin-esque blues to heartfelt tributes to Chicago’s musical roots.
Join us for an unforgettable night where Frank Bang’s powerful performance will evoke something profound in you. Whether you're in the mood for raw blues or rock and roll, there's a place for you here. Let’s celebrate the roots, the fruits, and everything in between! 🎶
