Guys Dance, Girlz DJ: London’s all-female vinyl movement Girlz B Like returns, and The Capitol is ready.

London’s underground is calling. This one feels special.

Girlz B Like, the all-female, vinyl-only collective founded by Marcia Carr, is back for another bi-monthly session at Grow Hackney. Not just a party, more a proper gathering. Music-first, community-led, and always locked into the deeper end of the dancefloor.

After a big International Women’s Month edition with Mihoko and Meena Rahi, the energy’s still lingering. Packed floor, people staying till close, that kind of night. Now it rolls into spring with another Saturday session. Come early, settle in, let it stretch out.

This time round, the lineup leans heavy:

South London’s DJ Dubplate Pearl steps in for her Girlz B Like debut. Deep roots in sound system culture, going back to blues parties in the 70s, with a selection that moves through reggae, boogie, disco and Lover’s Rock without forcing it. You might’ve caught her on NTS or Balamii, or digging at Lion Vibes. Proper selector.

YDLR joins too. DJ, singer, and founder of PXSSY X VINYL, pushing space for women in the scene in a real, practical way. Her sets move across club sounds with ease, always with intent.

Sweet P returns, bringing that blend of soulful house, hip hop, jazz and broken beat she’s known for. Manchester roots, Haçienda days, long-time presence behind the decks. She knows how to hold a room.

And at the centre, Marcia Carr. Guiding the whole thing with the kind of depth and control that comes from years in it. No gimmicks, just music that lands.

Girlz B Like has been building this space for over a decade now. Vinyl only, women-led, no shortcuts. It’s grown into something solid, and nights like this show why it matters.
