Global Running Day
Global Running Day is a festive occasion celebrated worldwide that encourages everyone to lace up their shoes and embrace the joy of running. 🥳 It doesn’t matter how fast or far you go — what truly matters is participating and having fun! You can run a quick lap around your neighborhood, take your furry friend on an adventurous walk, or gather your pals for a friendly game in the park. 🌳🏃♀️ This day is all about being active and inspiring others to join in!
Formerly known as National Running Day, this awesome event originated in the United States and had its first celebration back in 2009. The inaugural Global Running Day took place on June 1, 2016, where over 2.5 million participants from 177 countries pledged to run an impressive total of more than 9.2 million miles! 🌟 New York City Mayor, Bill de Blasio, officially declared June 1, 2016, as Global Running Day in NYC. 🗽 Adding to the excitement, Meb Keflezighi, the 2014 Boston Marathon champion, led a group run from the Boston Run Base, while the Atlanta Track Club organized an inspiring “run around the clock” event with at least one runner from the Atlanta metro area each hour throughout the day! 🕒🎉 Join in the global celebration and let's run for fun!
