Historic Gymnasium Ribbon Cutting
Join us for a momentous occasion as we celebrate the re-opening of the Historic Gymnasium in Davidson! 🏛️ Nestled behind the Town Hall and Community Center at 251 South Street, this gymnasium stands as a locally designated historical landmark, originally designed by architect Willard G. Rogers and completed in 1937.
The 5,230-square-foot building boasts a classically inspired design with arched windows, solid masonry walls, and original wooden bleachers. Following its renovation, this facility will proudly serve as the Town of Davidson’s first indoor recreation center! 🎈
This project is a shining example of adaptive reuse and historic preservation and was realized in collaboration with the design-build team of Balfour-Beatty and Creech & Associates.

This initiative has received support from Mecklenburg County through funds from the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) and the Town of Davidson's 2021 and 2023 General Obligation Bonds.
Be a part of history—let’s cut the ribbon together! ✂️
