This week’s feature, I Swear, is a poignant adaptation based on the true story of John Davidson. It reveals his initially carefree youth that spirals into painful alienation as he faces a world that struggles to understand him. John discovers a new direction with the help of Dottie (played by Maxine Peake), the lively mother of a former classmate, leading him to a realm of support and courage.

Directed by Kirk Jones, who also contributed as writer and producer, the film dives into the real-life challenges and moral complexities endured by individuals with Tourette’s syndrome and their families. I Swear has garnered impressive acclaim, including five BAFTA nominations, winning three awards: Best Leading Actor for Robert Aramayo, EE Rising Star for Robert Aramayo, and Best Casting for Lauren Evans.
