Step into history and join us for Exeter’s Lammas Fair, an annual tradition that has remarkably endured for over 900 years! 🎉 This significant event celebrates Lammas Day, a time when the first fruits of the harvest were offered to the Church. Back in the day, this fair attracted traders from all around the region, and it was ceremoniously opened with a Royal Proclamation and the raising of the iconic White Glove, symbolizing the Crown's protection and peacekeeping. Although the market stalls may no longer exist, Exeter proudly upholds this extraordinary piece of its heritage by officially proclaiming the Fair and hoisting the White Glove, just as countless generations have done before us. 🌾✨
