Očima kurátorů s hostem: Indické votivní plastiky koní

A lecture and guided tour of the exhibition Asian Art Across Space and Time with ethnologist and collector Jan Petránek will present a collection of terracotta horse sculptures from the Indian state of Gujarat. These are votive offerings created on a potter’s wheel or hand-modeled, which members of local tribal communities continue to place around their villages to this day, believing in the afterlife of their ancestors and the protective power of deified heroes. The lecture will be introduced by Kristýna Rendlová, curator of the Asian Art Collection.

The Through the Eyes of Curators series offers the perspective of those who work with art collections daily, care for them, and examine them in detail. In each session, a curator focuses on a selected part of the exhibition, shares topics from their research and key questions, and draws attention to details that usually remain hidden. The tour combines expert insight with an accessible format and invites open dialogue.
