Based in Ann Arbor, Michigan, Paul is an accomplished jazz saxophonist, flutist, and vocalist. He has won Detroit Music Awards on six occasions across various categories: Jazz Reeds, Talent Deserving Wider Recognition, Instrumentalist, and Jazz Recordings (2). His musical journey began on the flute in 1972, accompanying the University of Michigan's dance department.

Self-taught at first, he later studied music at City College of San Francisco and Washtenaw Community College. Paul's travels have taken him from the shores of Hawaii and Mexico to jazz clubs in San Francisco, Chicago, New York City, Havana, Paris, England, and the US Virgin Islands.
