Join us for a monumental series of evening lectures celebrating the rich history of Detroit! In 2026, we commemorate:
- 325 years since Detroit’s first European settlers 🇫🇷
- 250 years since the founding of the United States 🇺🇸
- 75th and 65th anniversaries of the openings of the Detroit Historical Museum and Dossin Great Lakes Museum 🌊
📅 The museum will be open from 5-8 PM with FREE admission during these events. Lectures kick off at 6:30 PM featuring:
- 5/28: Detroit in 1776 – Bill Pringle, Curator of Collections
- 6/11: Freedom Confirmed: Pres. Lincoln’s Courage to Create Change – Rodney Deal, VP of Outreach & Education
- 6/25: Great Fire of 1805 and the Making of Modern Detroit – Jeremy Dimick, Director of Collections & Curatorial
- 7/23: Stars and Stripes O’er the Strait – Joel Stone, Curator Emeritus
- 8/6: Skirmish, Siege, and Surrender: Detroit in 1812 – Eden Mitchell, WCHP Research Associate
- 9/3: Midnight: Detroit & the Underground Railroad – Billy Wall-Winkel, Field Curator
- 9/17: Why 1701? – Lily Chen, Curatorial Coordinator
- 10/29: College Symposium Night – Student presenters from University of Detroit and Wayne State University
