Join us for an extraordinary Shakuhachi Making Workshop led by the legendary John Kaizan Neptune, a master craftsman and shakuhachi player from Japan! Over three immersive days, you'll learn how to transform a beautiful piece of bamboo into a finely-tuned jinashi shakuhachi. 🌿

• Hands-On Learning: Cut, drill, and file bamboo under John’s expert guidance. Whether you're a complete beginner or someone with experience, there's room for everyone.
• Expert Direction: John Kaizan will demonstrate how to shape the bore precisely and address any challenges your instrument may encounter.
• Limited Spaces: The workshop accommodates only 7 participants, ensuring personalized attention.

About John Kaizan Neptune:

A celebrated pianist and composer, John is known for his innovative jazz shakuhachi techniques and has seen his flutes played by acclaimed musicians worldwide.

  • Friday: Altan Restaurant, U Trojského zámku 717/11, Prague
  • Saturday to Sunday: Orangery of Troja Château, U Trojského zámku 1/4, Prague
• Fee: 8750 CZK (approx. 335 EUR, including 1 bamboo blank)
• Tools Provided: All necessary tools will be supplied, but feel free to bring along your favorite set!

Additional Information:

• High-quality bamboo blanks are available for order.
• Personal bamboo can be brought or a semi-finished shakuhachi can be completed during the workshop.
• Notes: The workshop is conducted in English, and you must arrange to bring a case for your completed flutes.
