Shut Up & Write!® in Amsterdam / Centre

Join us for an hour of focused writing! ✍️ Writing alongside fellow writers can be incredibly beneficial. Experience this at the 7th floor of the Central Library Amsterdam on Wednesday mornings.

Whether you're working on a book, blog, script, essay, dissertation, resume, melody, poem, or any other writing project, you're welcome to join us. No one will see your work or offer unsolicited advice. Instead of just thinking about writing, come and make real progress!

Schedule:

• 10:30 am - Quick introductions
• 10:45 am - Timer starts: write for 1 hour
• 11:45 am - The End: chat, leave, or continue writing

Being late is okay! Just arrive, settle in, and check in with me afterward (look for the Shut Up & Write! sign). If you're on time, please make space for latecomers.

After the session, we’ll have time to chat and share our experiences as writers. If you need to leave right away, that's perfectly fine!

What Should I Bring?

• Anything you need to write!
• Earbuds/earplugs if you want to block out the café's music or conversations.
• Ensure your devices are fully charged, as charging options may be limited.

Other Important Details:

• If you're new to the library, you may need a few minutes to connect to the Wi-Fi via the publicroam app (instructions are on each table).
• While you’re not required to buy anything, bringing your own food and drinks is not allowed.

Note about the format:
We do not host critiques or readings. This is a safe space for writers of all levels and genres to work on their craft, so your writing will remain private.
