Join us for an impactful day with Volunteering Untapped NYC as we build community and restore our local environment! 🌍 Every month on the second Saturday, we collaborate with various organizations, and this time we're excited to partner with the Billion Oyster Project to rejuvenate oyster reefs in New York Harbor.
Oysters play a vital role as natural water filters and contribute greatly to the ecosystem. Our event will be held on Governors Island, accessible via a free ferry from the Battery Maritime Building (10 South St, Slip 7) in Lower Manhattan at 9:30 AM. Once we arrive, we'll engage in fulfilling tasks such as shoveling and moving shells, plus mixing cement, so be sure to wear clothes and shoes you don’t mind getting dirty! 🥳
During the day, we’ll take a well-deserved one-hour lunch break! You can either grab a bite from food trucks on the island or bring your own meal. Afterward, we’ll wrap up around 2:30 PM, then head to Taco Vista for drinks and socializing! 🌮🍹
Important: Participants must sign a waiver and register with the Billion Oyster Project. Our team will provide a link for registration after confirming the volunteer list.
Feel free to join our optional Volunteering Untapped socials to mingle with other volunteers! 🍽️ Food and drinks will be available for purchase.
By volunteering, you acknowledge that there are potential risks involved and agree to release Volunteering Untapped NYC from liability. Additionally, we may use photos or videos taken at the event for publicity purposes.
