Following our sold-out event at the Royal Court Theatre, we are excited to present another in-conversation event to explore the framework of Black Feminism Spells for Self-Naming: What Makes Black Theatre? 🎭

This framework, launched by The Rendition, Second Brain HQ, and Doing Black Things With my Black Friends (collectively known as mobb), emphasizes self-definition as crucial for reclaiming agency and resisting tokenism in the UK theatre scene. It highlights the communal habits of Black audiences and the historic organizing power of Black women and femmes, aiming to foster discussions around audiences, programming, and institutional practices regarding Black work.

Our panel features Shore Delano, Táiyé, Abi Falase, and Zainab Swanzy, who will delve deeper into the framework, addressing questions about who gets to define Black Theatre, the implications of that power, and its demands on the industry. 💬

The panel and Q&A will be followed by a mixer to continue the conversation! 🍹
