Why Line Dance? Queer Organizers on Movement, Space and Community
Join us for an engaging panel discussion at Pride House (Legenes Hus) in Oslo, where we'll explore the vibrant world of line dancing through a queer lens! 🌈
Why Line Dance? On Joy, Camp, and the Radical Act of Synchronized Movement is a thought-provoking event that dives into the flourishing queer line dance scene inspired by communities across Europe and the US. Cities like Oslo, London, Amsterdam, and Paris are embracing this joyful movement, fostering inclusivity and connection! 🙌
Meet Our Panelists:
- Embla Karidotter (Moderator): A former drummer turned queer country frontwoman, she's known for her distinct voice in modern country and Americana, with a Spellemannspris (Norwegian Grammy) to her credit.
- Laurie Kirwan-Ashman (they/them): The founder of STRUT in London, they merge queer culture with line dancing, challenging traditional perceptions.
- Christian (CJ) Tio (he/him): A passionate performer with STOMP in Amsterdam, bringing folk dance to the queer scene since 2025.
- Hannah Parsons (she/her): Co-founder of Oslo Queer Line Dance, she began her journey at a lively NYC party.
