Wild Flower – A Tribute To Wayne Shorter

Wayne Shorter, born in 1933 and celebrated as one of the greatest contemporary jazz musicians, left a remarkable mark on the music world until his passing at the age of 89 in 2023. His unique sound and playing style have influenced countless musicians, and many of his compositions are now recognized as jazz standards in the American Songbook.

In addition to his own illustrious career, Shorter collaborated with iconic artists like Weather Report, Art Blakey And The Jazz Messengers, The Manhattan Project, and Miles Davis' Second Great Quintet.

Wild Flower is a newly formed sextet that reinterprets Shorter's legendary music through original arrangements and high-level improvisation. From Shorter's most famous pieces to well-known jazz standards, the band's performance centers around Shorter's sound.

The group comprises six young musicians from various backgrounds who have come together through the power of music, creating their own expression infused with youthful influences while preserving Wayne's essence.

Most of Shorter's music is instrumental, so the band will also present original lyrics alongside instrumental pieces. Expect recognition, energetic stage presence, and high-level improvisation!

Jazz at Sprängkullen Live is presented in collaboration with Classic Jazz Göteborg. This nonprofit association promotes classic jazz styles like New Orleans, dixieland, swing, manouche, and others mainly from the 1920s to the 50s. Members receive discounts on the entry fee which can be deducted from the bill with pre-booked tickets by informing your waiter: Classic Jazz Membership
