This year’s gala officially launches A City Behind Walls, a transformative reimagining of the site’s visitor experience.Guests will get an exclusive first look at Phase 1 of the project, including a sneak peek inside the newly renovated survey gallery before it opens to the public. Proceeds from the evening support the next chapter of one of Idaho’s most significant historic sites.Built largely by inmates and operating from 1872 to 1973, the Old Idaho Penitentiary housed more than 13,000 individuals during its 101-year history. Today, A City Behind Walls is shaping a new way to explore and reflect on the stories of justice, law, and society that continue to resonate today.
