Join us for the World Café: Career Perspectives Beyond Academia event, where we dive into the opportunities and challenges faced by international postdocs in Berlin. This engaging session is organized by Forum Transregionale Studien and the Berlin Research 50 (BR50) initiative’s Interest Group “Third-Party Funding and Career Advice”, in collaboration with GSO – Guidance, Skills and Opportunities for Researchers e.V.

Over recent years, many international postdoctoral fellows are choosing to pursue careers outside of academia, partly due to limited academic opportunities in Germany, especially for those without a local degree. This event aims to equip you with insights into possible career paths beyond academia, featuring an interactive “World Café” format.

Key Highlights:

• Invited speakers from various fields share their personal journeys transitioning from academia.
• Explore four thematic discussion tables:
  • Journalism: Insights from Vera Möller-Holtkamp (Deutsche Welle) and Enrico De Angelis (Media Research Consultant).
  • Culture: Experience shared by Kateryna Mishchenko (Author and Curator).
  • Education: Learn from Petra Becker (Back on Track e.V.).
  • NGOs & Think Tanks: Discussions with Arnisa Tepelija and Nino Tsereteli (Democracy Reporting International).

🌐 There will be opportunities for networking and discussion throughout the event, encouraging exchanges on applying academic skills in non-academic contexts.
