C&O No. 490 Hudson

  Join us this August to explore the cab of the C&O No. 490, one of our most beloved engines! Built by the American Locomotive Company (ALCO) for the Chesapeake & Ohio Railway (C&O) in 1926, this locomotive started its life pulling mainline passenger trains like the Sportsman and George Washington.
  In 1946, it was transformed to a 4-6-4 “Hudson” type and lovingly nicknamed “Yellowbelly.” The No. 490 played a pivotal role on the C&O Chessie line, linking Washington, DC and Cincinnati, OH.
  This iconic engine is distinguished by its stylish streamlined design and is the last surviving L-1 class “Hudson” locomotive from the Huntington shops. Come visit us for a behind-the-scenes look at this favorite among rail enthusiasts!
