Dílna pro mládež a dospělé / Lilie: květina a symbol
All-day workshop with illustrator Kateřina Sechovcová and historian and lecturer Jitka Handlová.
In the first part of the meeting, participants will visit the graphic arts cabinet in the Schwarzenberg Palace, which is dedicated to depictions of lilies in the visual arts. A wide range of artists, from the Renaissance to the 20th century, will introduce us to various iconographic and historical transformations of the theme, not only in the form of graphic prints.
In practical studio work, they will focus on their own expression of the lily as a symbol, heraldic figure, or botanical imitation. Inspiration can be found in the prints of Albrecht Dürer and Václav Hollar, the drawings of Alfons Mucha and Jan Zrzavý, colorful Japanese woodcuts, or live models. They will use "trash" materials, remnants of exhibition prints, from which we will create matrices. They will print by hand, using a roller or ball presses. They will also try color prints. Combinations with drawing, painting, inventiveness, and experimentation are desirable. Participants will take the matrices and prints home with them.
