GatherNYC: Poeisis Quartet

🎶 Welcome to GatherNYC’s latest concert featuring the Poeisis Quartet! Fresh off their triumph at the 2025 Banff International String Quartet Competition, this talented ensemble promises a dynamic and invigorating music experience.

✨ This concert highlights the Oberlin Commission Project, where the quartet collaborates with five exceptional QTPOC (Queer/Trans People of Color) composers from their alma mater, Oberlin College & Conservatory. Their mission: to enrich the string quartet repertoire with fresh perspectives and sounds that often go unnoticed. As they express, "As queer musicians and as Oberlin graduates, this project serves as our way of giving back to the communities who raised us and brought us together."

🌟 Launched in 2018 by cellist Laura Metcalf and guitarist Rupert Boyd, GatherNYC is not just a concert; it's a transformative experience. The 2025-2026 season features 31 concerts from October 2025 through May 2026, with performances taking place every Sunday at 11:00 AM at The Theater at MAD.

🍵 Guests are treated to mesmerizing live classical music by some of New York's most gifted artists, along with artisanal coffee and pastries. Each event also includes a touch of spoken word and a moment of silence, creating a powerful atmosphere reminiscent of a spiritual gathering—except here, the language is music, and everyone is welcome!
