Learn about the remarkable adaptations of local wildlife, hear stories about the resident animals at AWCC and their wild counterparts, and discover how these animals navigate life in Alaska’s diverse environments. From marvelous martens to wondrous wood bison, Kristina will bring Alaska’s wildlife to life while sharing insights that can help visitors better understand and appreciate the animals they may encounter during their time in the state.

AWCC is a nonprofit sanctuary located in Portage Valley, surrounded by the Chugach Mountain Range and Turnagain Arm. Dedicated to conservation, education, research, and quality animal care, AWCC provides a home for orphaned and injured animals while offering visitors the opportunity to learn about Alaska’s wildlife. Guests can explore more than 200 acres of spacious habitats and experience Alaska’s animals through scenic drives, walking trails, educational programs, and up-close encounters.
