Join us for a special evening under the sky as we experience a partial solar eclipse at Bloemendaal aan Zee, followed later by the spectacular Perseid meteor shower.
On August 12, the Moon will pass in front of the Sun, creating a remarkable partial solar eclipse. At maximum eclipse, around 88% of the Sun will be covered. The event will take place right by the sea, with special telescopes provided by Sterrenwacht Copernicus to observe the eclipse safely.

We will meet at18:45and enjoy the eclipse observation together.
The partial eclipse begins at approximately19:17, reaching its maximum at20:11, when around88% of the Sun will be covered. The eclipse ends at approximately21:03, shortly before the Sun and Moon set around 21:13.
Sterrenwacht Copernicus will have aspecial solar telescope and a smart telescopeavailable so visitors can observe the eclipse safely.

π Optional: Perseid Meteor Shower
After the eclipse, those who wish can continue to Sterrenwacht Copernicus from around 21:30 to 23:00 to enjoy the Perseid meteor shower.
The Perseids are one of the year's most spectacular meteor showers, and the observatory will also provide additional information about both the solar eclipse and the meteor shower.
