About the event

☀️ 🪲 Protect your skin during peak mosquito season with the potency of nature’s medicine.

🍃 Updated Waiver

We've updated our community consent waiver this year. Attendees of workshops, clinics, and workdays need to complete a new waiver. If you've filled out the form at another space (e.g., Fruitvale, Ancestral Healing Farm) since mid-April, let the team know. If not, click here to complete it.

🍃 About the Herbalist-in-Residence Program

Our Herbalist-in-Residence program features a community herbalist for three months in our Downtown Community Apothecary & Pharmacy. During their residency, they provide open hour consults one day a week and bi-weekly hands-on workshops. These sessions aim to facilitate intentional knowledge exchange between local herbalists and community members, allowing each learner to leave with new skills and medicines. Workshop topics include:

  • 🌿 Tinctures
  • 🌿 Salves
  • 🌿 Herbal Tea Blends
  • 🌿 Fire Ciders
  • and more!

🤲🏾 About the Space

Freedom Community Clinic's Downtown Community Apothecary & Pharmacy is a donation-based resource for the community to learn, pick up medicines, make tinctures and tea blends, rest, co-work, and more. We welcome everyone from seasoned herbalists to those just starting their practice. We are located near Downtown Oakland.

In all our offerings, we prioritize Black, Brown, Indigenous, and Immigrant community members and ask that allies be mindful of the space and resources they take up when visiting and signing up for offerings.

🫂 Accessibility

Our space is wheelchair accessible and located near MacArthur Bart Station for public transportation. We are not a scent-free space and will have incense burning with windows open. We honor autonomy and provide face masks for those who need them, along with air filters in the space. We are a no shoes or shoe cover facility, offering slides in multiple sizes and shoe covers.
