A Time to Cast Away Stones. Solo Exhibition by Anna Kiparis
🌟 Exhibition Overview
"To everything there is a season… a time to gather stones, and a time to cast them away." — Ecclesiastes 3:5
Following the acclaimed exhibition A Time to Gather Stones, artist Anna Kiparis presents a new exhibition created exclusively for the historic Brompton Cemetery Chapel.
If A Time to Gather Stones reflected on hope and the expectation of a miracle, this new project suggests that waiting for a miracle is not always enough. There are moments when faith finds its expression in strength, endurance, and the will to act.
Conceived for a cemetery chapel, the project transforms graves into an integral part of the site-specific installation, embodying the scattered stones of Ecclesiastes. Works on green and white onyx draw on narratives from Genesis, the Old and New Testaments, while smaller compositions on agate expand these stories into more intimate reflections.
Installed throughout the chapel as independent sculptural objects, the stones appear scattered across the space, transforming the biblical metaphor into a landscape of memory, responsibility, and resolve.
