A Stream of Light Tea Gathering: Midsummer Afternoon Poetry & Tea Immortals' Gathering

• Lee Ann Brown: Celebrated American poet and founder of Tender Buttons Press.
• Jiaoyang Li: Poet and cross-media artist, co-founder of Accent.
• Kevin Ge: Musician and performer, known for his xiao (vertical bamboo flute) music.

In 353 CE, Wang Xizhi gathered with fellow literati at the Orchid Pavilion, creating a poetic ritual by letting wine cups float on a stream. Fast forward over sixteen hundred years, and we recreate this enchanting atmosphere at a HEYTEA tearoom on the Upper East Side.

As the evening unfolds, a long table winds like a stream, with fifteen tea guests seated along it. Kevin Ge's xiao music flows throughout the night, enhancing the poetic recitations by Lee Ann Brown and Jiaoyang Li. Guests will gather tea leaves and scatter them across paper, creating an imagined form inspired by the music and ambiance.

This gathering invites you to sail through poetry, tea, and candlelight, exploring the depths of memory and imagination. Wherever the music stops, a new story begins to grow.
