Alternativa x Klang Systematiek: Oliveros – Stockhausen (Sound in Motion)
Klang Systematiek: Sound in Motion.
An evening where sound unfolds, transforms, and takes shape in space and time.
On 10 June 2026 at 20:00, Klang Systematiek will perform at the Libeň Synagogue, presenting music by Pauline Oliveros and Karlheinz Stockhausen. The intimate acoustic of the synagogue becomes an active part of the musical experience.
The performance brings together bass clarinettist Gareth Davis, electronics artist Robin Rimbaud (Scanner), percussionist Martin Švec, and trombonist Ivo Nilsson. Moving between structure and open interaction, the musicians shape the music in real time through listening and response, with electronics extending and transforming the acoustic sound.
The programme brings together two seminal works: Primordial/Lift by Pauline Oliveros and Expo by Karlheinz Stockhausen. Both approach music as an evolving process shaped by attention, space, and perception.
Primordial/Lift, a monumental drone exploring the resonant frequencies of the planet and the nature of the shift of Earth’s north and south poles unfolds and then expands through waves of sustained sounds.
Stockhausen’s Expo is based on continuous transformation, where radio signals, scanned dialogues and cosmic frequencies are transformed in dialogue with the instruments before dissolving into the psychedelic unpredictable structure.
This evening offers a chance to experience music as a living process, unfolding in real time within one of Prague’s most distinctive spaces.
The concert is open to all ages. More information on the www.klangsystematiek.com website or social networks @klangfieldmusic.
Presented in cooperation with Alternativa Festival.
The concert is realized with financial support from the City of Prague, the Ministry of Culture of the Czech Republic.
