Join WEAG this summer for an incredible hands-on adventure as we celebrate the Festival of Archaeology 2026! This year's theme, “Archaeology and Nature,” perfectly complements our captivating excavations at Copped Hall in Essex. Surrounded by stunning nature-filled grounds, this site presents a unique opportunity to dive into archaeology in a relaxed setting.

Weekend Experience Dates:
• 11th – 12th July
• 25th – 26th July
• 8th – 9th August

Spend a weekend on a live archaeological dig, guided by professional archaeologists and skilled volunteers as they teach you the foundations of excavation and recording. You'll also get hands-on experience with various essential techniques to interpret sites and unveil the stories they hold.

Nestled within the Copped Hall grounds, a Georgian mansion under restoration, lies an intriguing hidden past. Discover remnants of previous Copped Halls, including a Tudor palace that was once graced by Queen Elizabeth I herself!
