Om evenemanget

Join us for an engaging artist talk featuring Laurena Finéus and Saya Woolfalk, celebrating Finéus’s debut solo exhibition, Cautionary Tales: A Symphony of Anger/Kòlè. 🌟

The artists will come together for a special conversation exploring Finéus’s practice and the inspiration behind her new body of work.

Laurena Finéus holds an MFA from Columbia University (2024) and a BFA from the University of Ottawa, Canada (2020). Her impressive work is included in public collections such as Google, Canada Council Art Bank, and the City of Ottawa. Finéus has earned multiple prestigious awards, including the Helen Frankenthaler Fund award (2023), the Elizabeth Greenshields Foundation grant (2022-23), and the Ottawa Arts Council IBPOC Emerging Artist Award (2022). Notably, in 2025, her work was featured in The Shed’s Open Call: Portals.

Saya Woolfalk, born in Japan (1979) and now based in New York, masterfully intertwines science fiction and fantasy to conjure multiple dimensions. Through her multi-year projects, such as No Place, The Empathics, and ChimaTEK, Woolfalk has created the fictional world of the Empathics—women capable of altering their genetic makeup and merging with plants. With each body of work, she continues to delve into their narratives, probing the utopian possibilities of cultural hybridity. 🌱✨
