
Balloo Woodland & Wetland Wander
Join Nature Reserves Officer Ryan Bradley for a delightful guided summer walk through the stunning Balloo Wetland Balloo Wetland and Balloo Woodland Balloo Woodland Nature Reserves in Bangor. Experience a blend of wetland, woodland, and meadow habitats that support diverse wildlife just minutes from the city!
In the wetland, you will explore ponds and reedbeds attracting a variety of dragonflies like the four-spotted chaser and common darter, as well as frogs, newts, and wetland birds including the little grebe, moorhen, and little egret. During summer, enjoy the buzzing insect life and a breathtaking array of wildflowers in the wildflower meadow.
As you stroll through Balloo Woodland, admire the mature oak, beech, and Scots pine trees. Keep an eye out for butterflies including the common blue, peacock, and ringlet, and listen for the melodious songs of birds like the blackcap and chiffchaff.
Please wear suitable clothing and footwear for an outdoor event. The walk will be no longer than 3 miles, and the path is wheelchair-friendly. A waiting list is available, and you will be notified if a spot opens up.
